Barbara Frohmader
Barbara later was influenced by Frida Dean at the Gertrude Institute of Art in Augusta GA, who encouraged more abstract expression. This painting combined impressions of a Chihuli exhibit in the Botanical Garden, Atlanta. Barbara has since preferred less abstract portrayals of outdoor scenes. |
A major turning point occurred when she traveled with seasoned painters to take a class with Andrew Peters in Arizona. “Andy’s work is breathtaking and I was out of my league! However I realized then that I perceived and thought as a painter does.”
Barbara has since painted with instructors all over the country including Karen Weihs, Cashiers NC, Peggy Everett, St Simons Island, GA, and Bill Jameson of Saluda NC., as well as Barrett Edwards in both Italy and Maine. Barbara studied with Eric Wiegardt at Springmaid in Myrtle Beach SC in 2014 and spent two weeks with a group of his in Portugal in 2015. Most recently Barbara attended a workshop in Montana taught by Eric and participated as a member in the 2019 Juried show of the Montana Watercolor Society. Below is a painting accomplished ‘plein air’ in the spring of this year and available for sale. |
